무의도에서 비치 클린을 한 후 모은 쓰레기는 바로 반출되지 못합니다. 지자체는 짧게는 한 달, 길게는 일 년 후에 반출 계획을 짜고 실행합니다. 그동안, PE, PP 소재로 만들어진 마대는 햇빛에 삭아 바스러집니다. 결국 기껏 모은 쓰레기는 다시 흐트러지고 마대 자체도 미세플라스틱 쓰레기가 되어버립니다.
우리는 커피 마대에서 답을 얻었습니다. 자연에서 한 여름을 포함해 4개월이나 노출되었지만 마대가 멀쩡했기 때문입니다. 지자체의 해양 쓰레기 처리 속도가 느린 만큼, 비치 클린 단체에서도 다르게 대응해야 합니다. 동시에, 지자체의 신속한 쓰레기 처리를 요구하기 위해 연대해야 합니다.
관세청 수출입무역통계에 따르면 커피 생두 수입 중량은 2020년 약 15만 톤입니다. 1년간 약 200만 자루가 들어오는 것이죠. 이것으로도 충분히 매년 많은 양의 쓰레기를 주울 수 있습니다.
• 이미 만들어진 마대를 사용합니다. (커피 마대)
• 반출이 어려운 해변에서는 커피 마대를 사용하고 안전한 곳에 고정 후 수거 요청 신고를 합니다.
✓ 비치 클린과 수거를 요청하는 행동이 병행되어야 시민들의 노력이 더 큰 의미를 가집니다.
✓ 시민 참여자께서는 기업에서 받은 플라스틱 마대를 개인 활동에서만 사용해 주세요.
Trash collected after beach cleaning in Muuido Island cannot be taken out immediately. Local governments plan and implement the shipment in a short period of a month or a year. Meanwhile, the bags made of PE and PP material are crushed by sunlight. Eventually, the garbage collected becomes messy again, and the bags becomes microplastic waste.
We found the solution from coffee bean bags. Even after exposure to the elements for four months, including the middle of summer, the bags were fine. As local governments are slow to dispose of marine waste, beach clean organizations should respond differently. At the same time, local governments should join forces for faster disposal of waste.
According to the Korea Customs Service’s import and export trade statistics, the import weight of coffee beans is about 150,000 tons in 2020. That’s about 2 million bags a year. This is enough to pick up a lot of trash every year.
🎥 The reason why you should use a coffee bag for beach cleaning!
• Use a bag that has already been created. (Coffee bag)
• On beaches where it is difficult to access, use a coffee bag and report a collection request after fixing it to a safe place.
✓ Citizens’ efforts are more meaningful when beach clean and collection of trash are requested at the same time.
✓ Citizen participants are advised to use plastic bags received from companies only for solo trash pickups.
